richman073 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) Hello, I tried to burn an XBOX360 backup with IMGburn. I use a Optiarc DVD+RW DL AD-5240S burner and Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x disks. It doesn't let me burn lower than 4x. What is the problem? The disk or the burner? Firmware is updated to latest build. Layerbreak is 1913760. LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I 20:58:55 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x; 6x; 8x) There is no problem, that's just all your drive supports. Slower doesn't always mean better.

richman073 Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 I 20:58:55 Destination Device: [1:0:0] Optiarc DVD RW AD-5240S 1.01 (D:) (ATA) http://www.firmwarehq.com/Optiarc/AD-5240S/files.html Problem solved: Optiarc drives can't burn Verbatim 8x (media code MKM-003-000). Optiarc drives can ONLY burn Verbatim 2.4x (media code MKM-001-000). I will buy a new burner, a Pioneer 216D that CAN burn Verbatim 8x (MKM-003-000) on 2.4x speed. Closed.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 You're wasting your time. That 8x one burnt and verifed just fine so what exactly do you think the problem is?!
richman073 Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 You're wasting your time. That 8x one burnt and verifed just fine so what exactly do you think the problem is?! XBOX360 consoles read disks at 2.4x speed. XBOX 360 original games are burnt at 2.4x speed. Burning XBOX360 backups higher than 2.4x (so 4x and higher) can cause damage to the XBOX360 console and/or the burnt disks will be unreadable after multiple uses.
mmalves Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 May I ask who told you or where you read that load of crap? X360 originals aren't burned, they're pressed, not to mention that the console's drive doesn't care about the speed the disc was burned at. What it does care about the burn quality, i.e. readability of the disc, and with newer burners the slowest burn speed doesn't always result in the best burn quality since newer burners are better tuned for faster burns.

Thank you alot!!! The info I posted is what I read on an XBOX360 forum, but you're right it's about the readability and it passed so I think it's fine. The game plays perfectly by the way. I'll keep burning at 4x with my Verbatim disks, they are top quality!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Man they post some crap on those forums sometimes!
