jmone Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 ImgBurn is reporting a format failure at 99% when doing the initial full format on BD-RE 50 GB Discs, but subseqent "Quick Format" seems to work fine (see logs). This has happened on the first two of my TDKBLD-Wfa-00 disks (now testing the third). These discs now seem to be writable but: 1) are they safe to use? 2) are there other ImgBurn setting I should have used? 3) other hints? Thanks Nathan I 18:45:28 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Burn one in Discovery mode and just check it writes+verifies everything ok. If it does, assume it's safe to use. The LG drives do seem to fail on media that's not Verbatim stuff quite often. It's a shame they don't make 50GB discs yet. Panasonic do a 50GB one though, maybe the drive will like that dye a little more.
jmone Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 Burn one in Discovery mode and just check it writes+verifies everything ok. Thanks - will try and post back the details (but given the 3hrs just for the first format it will be awhile!)
mmalves Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Thankfully you only have to format it just once: after that you can simply overwrite the data
jmone Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 FYI - the final of the three Discs (TDKBLD-Wfa-00) formatted correctly. I've also now checked one of the "failed at 99%" discs by Burning in Discovery mode / verify and everything was ok. Thanks Nathan
