Incerto Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Hello guys, this is my first post and I'm already asking for help, sorry about that. Well my story is the following: I've always used RIDATA media and never had any problems, but now, suddenly, I've got these errors of invalid adress, and when sometimes I dont get the error my burned copy doesn't work properly. I need some help about what should be the problem and what should I do. I thought about some hypothesis and would like your opinion. 1- Media - Overruled - I've always used the same media and never had problems 2- Firmware Update - Overulled - Same as above 3- Upgrade my memory (512 MB only) - I think that's not the solution either, cause I made a lot of successful copy's 4- Need to Format C: - Has been a lot of time without formating C:, but I've always defragmented the HD, but anyway why suddenly the problems would appear and are they really related? 5- My Burner is Dead - Maybe this is the more likely hypothesis, but I can burn without any problem dvds and cd's (using nero), the only problem I'm having is with DUAL LAYER BURNS. So my burner is partially dead only, is it possible? 6- Utilize another software - I dont know about that I'll post one log to help, thanks in advance! I 21:16:49 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! Cynthia Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, Incerto! Same media as before = same media code on the old ones that worked? Disc ID: RITEK-D01-01 Try a firmware update. http://www.firmwarehq.com/LG/GSA-4167B/files.html If that also fail - try a cleaning disc.
Incerto Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 (edited) Hi and welcome to the forum, Incerto! Same media as before = same media code on the old ones that worked? Disc ID: RITEK-D01-01 Try a firmware update. http://www.firmwarehq.com/LG/GSA-4167B/files.html If that also fail - try a cleaning disc. Same media as before I mean same media code and same bundle too. I dont think a cleaning disk will work, cause any other media, except DL, I can burn without problems. I will update my firmware, but I think it wont change anything. Anyway I would like to know if it is possible my burner is partially dead? I mean, only dead for burning DVD DL medias. Thanks for your help Edited October 13, 2009 by Incerto
Cynthia Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 A lot of others that posted error logs in the past that can burn regular single layer DVD media - but fails on DL media.
mmalves Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Technically, dual-layer burning is a lot more difficult than single-layer burning, and that's why media quality plays such an important part in the process.
spinningwheel Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 1- Media - Overruled - I've always used the same media and never had problems Ritek was a great media at one time long ago, but now it's mostly crap and if you already have this idea why come here for help. You've undoubtedly taken some time to look around and have read for yourself that Verbatim (Singapore) makes the best DL discs. 2- Firmware Update - Overulled - Same as above Do you update your OS and your virus/malware/spyware programs? Why bother if they used to work before? Firmware, when available, correects problems in the original code and adds media code burning specs not included in the original drive's arsenal. 3- Upgrade my memory (512 MB only) - I think that's not the solution either, cause I made a lot of successful copy's I ran for years on 512 without a problem also so this is really not a concern unless you're going to be running other programs at the same time as your burning. 4- Need to Format C: - Has been a lot of time without formating C:, but I've always defragmented the HD, but anyway why suddenly the problems would appear and are they really related? As long as you have defragged the HDD fairly recently, reimaging the drive should not be necessary. 5- My Burner is Dead - Maybe this is the more likely hypothesis, but I can burn without any problem dvds and cd's (using nero), the only problem I'm having is with DUAL LAYER BURNS. So my burner is partially dead only, is it possible? Yup, totally and completely possible. It works OK on SL burns but chokes on the DL burns is a prime indicator, especially since you're entrenched with using the Ritek media. 6- Utilize another software - I dont know about that Always an option, but we don't support other programs and you and only you can decide what to use on your machine.
