jpom22 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) i've been all over the forums, searching with all different terms, yet the question remains: after i use nero express 7, to convert avi to VOB, BUP and VTS, i load them all into imgBurn, add the .srt subtitles file and i get a perfect DVD minus the subtitles. i d/l-ed convertx2dvd, which has an easy "add subtitles" facility, but the beta version imprints a stamp on the dvd. why do this, when if the proggy works, i'll buy it when the trial period is up? but to spend a few hours waiting for yet another dvd to burn, only to find no subtitles and a useless dvd with a stamp? no, not going there. ever. there was a discussion bet. LUK and bootsector, re: a '1' in the joliet name but it dealt with changing a code somewhere, which was beyond my abilities, plus no codes were posted. so-- can imgburn merge the .srt subtitles into a final DVD? i tried having the same names except for the extensions, in the same VIDEO_TS folder, and loading the folder, but the files loaded without the .srt - so i added that as a file, with the rest but that doesn't work. is it me, or do i need something else to insert the subtitles into the .avi before burning to dvd? or what? lost, gone and desperate #39;( Edited October 15, 2009 by jpom22
Cynthia Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, jpom22! so-- can imgburn merge the .srt subtitles into a final DVD? No. ImgBurn burns the files as they are. It's not possible to just add a .srt file into a DVD compliant set of files (.ifo,bup.vob) - you need to include the .srt file during the converting of the .avi file. DVD Flick is another free option for that purpose. There are several guides on how to do this task with DVD Flick on the Net. http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/AVI_to_DVD_using_DVD_Flick_page1.html
