Benkei Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 (edited) Hello all. The burning have gone smooth for about a year now, but yesterday I started having problems when burning a iso. I got a error after maybe ~60% (dont remember really), I downloaded the file again, but from another contributor and tried it, and then it worked fine. Now today, I've wasted 3 DVD's (!), without any sucessfull burn. It came to different percentaces every time (24%, 63% and the last one at 56%(on the second layer(?)) .. My DVD burner: PIONEER_DVD-RW_DVR-115D MY DVD's: Verbatim 8x DVD'R DL 8.5GB Here is my newest error log (from the third burn): I 18:23:53 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! Benkei Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Just wanna update by saying that the DVD surprisingly works in my 360! However, the burning got that error... Do that mean that something's left out and didnt make it into the disc? If so, then I think I need to re-burn again - please someone, respond!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 As that's not a typical error (hence the 'Unknown (ASC: 0xA8, ASCQ: 0x03)' bit), there's a chance that the errors aren't really coming from the drive at all. Maybe you have communication issues - due to drivers, filter drivers, bad cables etc. Verify the disc again manually and see if you get errors in the same place. You could try cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc too. Don't forget that drive supports lots of different write speeds on that media, one of the others might produce higher quality burns.
Benkei Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Verify the disc again manually and see if you get errors in the same place. I have never done that before, but I tried it. And I got trough 100% without any kind of error at all... Does that mean the DVD is actually working perfectly? (I have not much experience in these kinds of things really)
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Assuming you Verified it correctly, yes the disc is fine.
Benkei Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Assuming you Verified it correctly, yes the disc is fine. Wow, thats really good news! Very important thing to know of when you burn backups indeed! Thanks for the help man! I guess this thread is finnished.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Yes but that doesn't really explain why it failed verification (your drive kept erroring out) the first time around - there's obviously an issue somewhere.

True true. But I have no idea what the problem really is about and btw it was only the last DVD that actually worked... Im pretty sure it got nothing to do with bad cables or dust or anything, I checked the comp just a few days ago and took away every piece of dust I could find and didnt see any damage on the cables. So it might be some kind of driver as you said, but I dunno really how to find out if that is the problem or not and how to solve it. So its kind of a mystery rly lol. But I guess I'll come back if I get more errors on my next DVD's. If you dont got anything else to add, that is.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Replace (swap) the cable anyway. Post your filter driver list using the feature in the Tools menu. What chipset does your drive controller use? Intel, Nvidia etc?
