LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Your firmware ('A106') dates back to 2006 and that dye ('RITEK-S04-66') wasn't even invented then. 2 choices really... get some old school MKM-001-00 dye discs (Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL) or get a new drive.

Thanks UK I'll give verbatim a try oh BTW I'm using memorex They were out of verbatim. Also do you know what's the latest update for my drive? Thanks again! Jas
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 A106 is the latest - it's an old drive and they give up making new firmware releases pretty quickly these days, they expect you to buy a new model drive. http://www.firmwarehq.com/LG/GSA-4163B/files.html Memorex is just a brand name. They could be using any dye really (except for the decent MKM one that Verbatim use). That particular spindle just happens to be using the RITEK-S04-66 one.
