Maybe you've got a duff drive.... that or the discs aren't quite what they should be.

You've got better PIF readings on the BenQ, it's just a shame about PIE's.

Oh and you need to update your DVDInfoPro too.

Hi Lightning, I wonder.

When I up dated the firmware to the latest & it went through the reboot, the computer didnt reset, it just hung up.

I manually reset and it came up with a drive error, updated the firmware again, this time it appeared to work ok.

Could this of mucked things up?

DVD-R (Disc ID: CMC MAG. AE1) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 8x)

Here is a major part of your problems, you are using media that's not fit to be used as target practice.

Speeds of 2.4x in -R media is unheard of.

please get some decent media, verbs or yudens, only then you can be sure of drive problems.

I am using Yudens, just trying everthing and every disc I have, to make comparisons.

Yuden results were worse than the Datawrite when I get a burn!!

Lol lfcrule1972....thats exactly what I thought

They are from a spindle of Mr.Dvd discs courtesy of Tesco and are multi-functional

The first function is to show the principal of "you only get what you pay for"

The second and most important function is that they make excellent coasters to put your coffee cup on :teehee:

Numbers;

When ImgBurn reads the disc upon startup, what ID does the disc have?

This is what Imgburn says

Physical Format Information (ADIP):

Disc ID: YUDEN000-T02-00

Obviously a cheap fake

lfcrule1972

I didn't buy them.....I "borrowed" them from the brother in law so hopefully he will buy better media with the money he saved....rofl

You're brave buying them from Tesco  Did you get clubcard points on them ? If so I guess all is not lost !!! =))

Don't forget to submit an invoice for your "testing" of his inferior discs =))

lfcrule1972.... this is the best laugh i've had all day......=))..........I know, simple things / simple minds.......
