domiel Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 (edited) So tried to burn an image via the "write image file to disk" option. Upon a succesfull burning the program tries to verify the disk but I get the error: incompatible medium installed Bascicly I cant read the disk in my drive.......Any advice on what im doing wrong? Am i perhaps using a wrong blank dvd-disk(although they all look the same to me)? Also what I was trying was making a bootable windows cd from an image file but didn't get the option to make it a boot disk with the "write image file to disk" option. So assuming I solve my first issue will a succesfull burn result in a bootable cd? Edited October 22, 2009 by domiel
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 It'll be due to a bad drive/firmware/media combo (and to an extent, possibly the write speed you used). If you post the log we'll be able to help properly.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Your drive is a good 5 years old now and I guess it just doesn't like that MID (RITEKF1). RITEKF1 isn't great to start with but it's a 16x dye and your drive was designed back when we only had 4x media. You should probably just invest in a new burner and I'd also recommend you start using decent media rather than the cheapo RITEK stuff - well, that's if you value your burns and like them to be of decent quality.
domiel Posted October 23, 2009 Author Posted October 23, 2009 ok thanks for the help! Im too cheap to go invest in a new drive so will try to get a hold of some older dvds I guess. Any advice on where/what to get?
Cynthia Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Verbatims 2.4x rated made in Singapore, seems to work best with older drives. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 They're only trying to burn DVD-R Cynthia I only ever recommend Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim discs. I'm not overly keen on the Verbatim DVD-R ones, I love the Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's though (especially the 8x TYG02 dye). The trouble is, Taiyo Yuden discs are very expensive (about £30 - £35 for a 100 disc spindle here in the UK) and I can actually buy a new drive for less. My second choice would be Verbatim DVD+R's. I can get them for about £20 - much better
Cynthia Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 They're only trying to burn DVD-R Cynthia Sorry.
