hx239 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 The problem: Set L0 Data Zone Capacity Failed! - Reason: Power Calibration Area Error The story: Just got my xbox modded, had some issues making my own .iso files cause most of my discs are old and scratched up to begin with, so I downloaded them instead. Burned my first game fine, using a verbatim DL that a buddy gave me. He only gave me one to get started, so i went out to the store and got me some memorex DLs. Tried another game and bam, the error you see above occured. Did a little searching, found this place, saw all the tons of people who had done that, and ordered me some Verbatim DVD+R DL 8.5GB 2.4x write speed made in Singapore discs based off what I found here. They got here today, i threw one in all excited and BAM, still having the same problem. I've tried with a couple different games, but not with the origional iso that did work, so I can't say for sure that its not the .iso im using but I don't think thats the case. I tried searchin for other people with this problem but didn't find anything that was helpful. I tried not to bug you guys with what I'm sure you must be sick of, but I just couldn't figure it out on my own. LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Have you installed some sort of odd firmware on that drive? It's not a version I've ever seen before. The drive is also having issues reporting the disc information. Go for a reboot, reseat the cable to the drive/motherboard, make sure the drive is either set to Master or Slave (and not Cable-Select) on a decent 80 wire cable, try cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc. Does the drive report the proper disc info for other discs (single layer ones) ? ('Proper' is where is doesn't list everything as 'Unknown' !)
hx239 Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 could be you don't recognize it because I'm on a mac. I have burned many DLs before, just not xbox games, and not on windows. I did manage to get the one to burn on windows though so it seems weird to me that more wouldn't. If I tried to burn the games using a mac dvd burner do you think it would work? I would think it should as long as I set the layer break but I wasn't sure if there was some way to detect that or whatever. I'll try what you suggested later today when I get home. LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 The error suggests it's a drive/firmware/media combo issue. Using different software shouldn't make any difference. Try cleaning the drive and using the other supported write speeds. See if you can find a firmware update for the drive too - I've no idea if the drives really do need to have non-standard firmware on them or not.
