ohidontknow Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Short version: event viewer said cdrbsdrv.sys was incompatible with win 7 so i got rid of it - then HP Blu-ray drive died! Wont read any disc; nothing worked until i tried imgburn - clicked on discovery - and presto! it spun up the drive! rebooted - drive still read data/ audio/ video discs. But then suddenly it stopped. Even imgburn doesn't work this time - pc is ONE WEEK old I'm sure the drive isnt bad - this all happened after i messed with the settings - Any idea what imgburn did to get the drive to work? and what is missing from the system??
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 What does the program say in the status bar when you're in Write mode and have just put a disc in the drive?
ohidontknow Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 What does the program say in the status bar when you're in Write mode and have just put a disc in the drive? welp - this morning it burns - reads- verifies ok, but now the drive seems to spin faster, thrash more and takes a long time to read before explorer will display contents. Any idea what happened to this thing? This seem to have happened after i screwed with the registry but really, wouldn't that result in work or not work situation? Why the thrashing and slow reads?
mmalves Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 It could be a thousand and one things, and since our crystal ball is in the repair shop (worn out due to too much use,) you'll have to answer LUK's inquiry before we may be able to narrow down the problem. While you're at it, also post your Filter Driver Load Order (look in ImgBurn's Tools menu).

While you're at it, also post your Filter Driver Load Order (look in ImgBurn's Tools menu). welp - i figured the answer to LUK's question was implied in my response: imgburn reads, burns everything fine today. As for filters the only thing listed is anydvd as the lower class filter b/c i ran the reg fix to remove all filters when i was trying to get this thing to work. scratch that - it's back to not working - says "device not ready (medium not present - tray closed)" with a disc in the drive. What in the world could i have screwed up software wise that has caused the drive to have so many problems? Yeah i know it's hard to say but it's odd that only imgburn can (sometimes) get the drive to work. Edited November 10, 2009 by ohidontknow
mmalves Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 You can copy the Filter Driver Load Order using the Clipboard button and paste it here. If the list is clen then it's most likely a hardware problem and you should look into getting the drive replaced.
