martin
I know that other people have posted with the same problem, but i haven't found a solution yet, so i thought i'd ask again. I have burned standard DVD+Rs and CDRs with this drive, but when i attempt to burn a DVD+R DL it does not load. The log is as follows: I 21:21:23 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! I 21:21:23 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2) I 21:21:23 Total Physical Memory: 523,760 KB - Available: 171,952 KB I 21:21:23 Initialising SPTI... I 21:21:23 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 21:21:24 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD±RW! - this is simply the log shown when the program starts up when i click 'eject', put the disc in then click 'load' i am met with: 'Device Not Ready (Logical Unit is in the process of becoming ready)' After some noise from the disc drive i am told: 'Device Not Ready (Medium Not Present)' I have tried uninstalling the drive and reinstalling it, but with no success. I have also tried the same with img burn. The drive does work but i am just having problems with dual layer discs. Is there any light that anyone can shed on my problem? thanks in advance. mmalves
Your drive thinks there's no disc inside. What's the brand of the dual-layer discs you're using? Have you tried with Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL blanks? If it doesn't work with them then you should look for new burner

Is the speed the problem? I thought that regardless of the speed you can always burn them slower? The DVD burner is referred to by ImgBurn as: HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA-4164B (ATA) with firmware 1.01 (i checked for newer versions but did not find any.) mmalves
If it doesn't recognize the Verbatim 8x blanks then I guess it's time for a new burner
