Your drive can't read the data that was just written onto the disc, here's a few suggestions:

1. Get rid of the Riteks and get some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DataLifePlus discs.

2. Check for newer firmware that may include support for your media.

3. Try using different speeds, it's a myth that the data you're burning needs to be done at 2.4X or the slowest speed.

4. Try cleaning the drive laser head with a cleaning disc.

5. Get a better drive.

I 00:54:49 Destination Device: [0:0:0] Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170S 1.00 (L:) (ATA)

I 00:54:49 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: RITEKG05) (Speeds: 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x)

Update your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) and try again. If it doesn't work at 2x or 4x, also try 6x and 8x. If it still doesn't work then try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks.

//edit great speed spinner ;)

Does your Wii play other backups?

yes it has a mod chip in

the game loaded and then when i selected the game a black screen came up.

what i am unsure of now is

as the imgburn completed.

1. is the media now fine.

2. now the recorder has had a firmware upgrade is that ok.

It could be that your Wii is having a hard time reading that disc. Try burning at 4x, 6x or 8x to see if you get a better quality burn, but it would be better if you could try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks.

W 12:50:06 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 2,770 KB/s (2x), Got: 5,540 KB/s (4x)

The only problem you have here is that you asked for 2x and the slowest it could b burned is 4x...not a big deal since you cannot force speeds on a drive, they do what they are programmed to do within their firmware.

I would suggest that you refer to Google and look for a site that specializes in Wii stuff and see what they have to say about that particular disc as ImgBurn is not creating the problem you are experiencing and that's as far as we can go on the subject.

If you sort it out, post the solution in the chat area so others can get an idea as to what to do.
