chrisssj2
http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/9807/weirdi.jpg I got this error 4 times after each other now... I burn at 4.0 x speed 1. he hanged at lead in and didn't even write anything. 2.he took 5 minutes for lead in and then burned 6%. then speed went 0 x and got the error. 3. other time @ 30% ish While before this, I burned 5 backups perfectly this week with the same media and settings. So now I wasted 3 dvd's already... What could be the problem? Thanks. dvd-drive: LG HL-DT -ST DVD-RAM GH22LP20 1.3 Media used: dvd dual layer Arita (yes I know not an A brand, but I burned 50 + games with it fine.) mmalves
Update your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) and try again. If it doesn't work then use a lens cleaning disc on that burner. If all else fails then read this -> http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000

If all else fails then read this -> http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 My firmware is 100% up to date, and no I won't change media Since I still have alot of those dvd's and I never have this problem before and I burned 50+ dvd's. The problem must be somewhere else..?

Cynthia
If it worked before and then suddenly gives you issues, it might be an idea to try to run a cleaning disc in that drive. I can't see no reasons in the settings based on the logs that it should give you errors.
mmalves
Did you not notice that there's a newer firmware for your burner in the link I've posted above? As for the media, inconsistent quality is exactly the problem with non-Verbatim dual-layer blanks.
chrisssj2
Well then like I said the media might not be the best, but for 5 direct fails after each other? Seems unlikely when I burned so many succesfull. Sure 5 fails overtime not strange, but in a row it is to me. Hmm a cleaning disc? I haven't got that. Can't you do that with a normal disc ? Mmalves newer firmware? I checked the official LG website, and 1.03 is newest there... sooo.. Don't know where you are looking? Thanks. EDIT: I checked on http://nl.lge.com/products/sidemenu/list/dvddrive_PRD%7CSW_sw.jhtml and this is official site and 1.03 is latest here. When I look at google I found http://www.lge.com/us/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=GH22LP20&initialTab=warranty&targetPage=support-product-profile I found 2.0 there weird that it doesn't show up on the page I looked... I wonder if it really is the same dvd drive model then :S better be careful Edited November 21, 2009 by chrisssj2
mmalves
Maybe my first post wasn't quite clear... Update your burner's firmware (remove any disc and close the tray before updating then reboot after it's finished) and try again. What about now? Can you see where the newer firmware is? Using the latest firmware, cleaning the burner's lens and trying all the available write speeds is about all you can do besides using better quality blanks. The other option would be buying a new burner that has better support for your blanks.

But on the site here it says 2.0 http://www.lge.com/us/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=GH22LP20&initialTab=warranty&targetPage=support-product-profile Should I get that one instead? (im very cautious because if you go wrong.. it's over) One more questiom Connect the drive as?master?by it self, on the secondary IDE controller with no other device on the same IDE cable, making note to set the jumper on the back of the drive to the?master?position Is this very important? What could be the consequenes if you don't? Because I updated last time without checking any of this.(maybe reason of my trouble?) I know my dvd drive is on a seperate IDE cable.. don't know if it's master or secondary. and don't know about the jumper aswell... How do I know all this? Thanks again very much. mmalves
Try the 2.00 firmware update, and if it doesn't work then try the 1.04 firmware, which I know that works because I'm using it in my burner As for their instructions they tell you to do that to minimize the chance of flashing the wrong drive or having errors communicating with the drive (can happen when using old/bad cables). Since you've updated before and didn't have problems then you don't need to worry about it. Closing all programs, removing any disc from the drive and closing the tray is all you need to do before updating.
chrisssj2
OK thanks Now I got dualboot normally I burn at windows xp Might it make a difference If I burn trough windows 7?
mmalves
The OS you use for burning shouldn't make any difference.
chrisssj2
Still errors... wasted another 3 dvd's... got up to date firmware now so... And I don't think it's the media because like what 8 disc failing after one another? I never had this problem after each other only sometimes one disc. And also It seems most of the time it can't go further than writing leadin.... Normally that is done within 10+ seconds and it keeps hanging there... Arghh hate it, don't know what's wrong... It could be my drive I think. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 - Log ; Monday, 23 November 2009, 11:27:09 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 11:25:13 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started!
