Invisible Problems of Burning a Windows 7 OS into a DVD+RW

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi guys, it's me again. You may have already seen the question I asked in:

http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=12744

Actually, that was only "part A". There was the "part B" question:

The story happened BEFORE Cynthia reply and AFTER I posted the "part A" question.

I gave up burning Win7 OS into my empty "DVD-R (120min 4.7GB 1-8X)".

I changed my DVD-R into another disc: MAXELL DVD+RW. It was noticed that the major difference between R and RW was only rewritable and non-rewritable.

Then I did the same steps listed in "part A".

Hopefully, there was no any error detected. The disc was then burnt and a window pop up and said "operating system XXX(something like 'built successfully')".

What I expected was that an error would be detected once again but it didn't. This was the first "strange point (1/2)".

Next, I restarted my computer. The END of the SECOND PAGE of the STARTUP process AFTER RESTARTING wrote:

"searching for Boot record from CDROM..."

(within 5 to 10 seconds, a new notice was created BELOW this notice)

"CDBOOT: cannot boot from CD - code: 5"

WHAT DOES IT MEAN??? WHY CAN'T MY DISC BE BOOTABLE??? I HAD FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTION ABOUT "BURNING A BOOTABLE WIN7 OS DISC" ALREADY.

The next action I did was finding my old XP CD disc and Vista DVD disc which had been given by my firends (not OEM / not bought from the shop).

The notice wrote at the same place when I restarted with my XP CD disc was:

"searching for Boot record from CDROM..."

"Pres any key to boot from CD..."

The notice wrote at the same place when I restarted with my Vista DVD disc was:

"searching for Boot record from CDROM..."

"Pres any key to boot from CD or DVD..."

Later, I put a programme disc: Ulead VideoStudio SE Basic.

The notice wrote at the same place when I restarted with this programme disc was:

"searching for Boot record from CDROM..."

"searching for Boot record from IE-8 . OK" (something seemed to be like this)

This was the second "strange point (2/2)".

Why only the bootable OS installation disc I made was not BOOTABLE???

OR, was the ImgBurn programme treating me and it seemed that burning a bootable disc is so easy? (it's just my hypothesis!)

Any other factors? (my computer's problem / my disc's problem / my file's problem)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ANY INFORMATIVE REPLY!!!

Oops... I'm so sorry for the absence of the log, here it is:
