chuckycheese Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Hi all, I use the Liteon DH-20A4P Burner. I've had it for about one year. Things were fine until a few months ago when I would get I/O errors while burning and the burning process would slow down big time. I found out that it was because Win XP had automatically switched from DMA to PIO mode because I had unknowningly put a DVD with errors in the drive. After changing the setting back to DMA though, the drive still has problems. It occasionally gives me some sort of read error while burning, but other times the Imgburn would complete the burn without any errors, but the disc would still be unreadable. Is there anything I can use to diagnose any setting problems? Or has the DVD burner simply broken down already? I purchased it from Newegg OEM, perhaps it's a refurbished unit. Thank you.
mmalves Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Please read the pink banner at the top of this page. You can find the older logs in ImgBurn's Help menu.
chuckycheese Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 I think this is where the burner started going haywire after I changed the setting back to DMA2. It says invalid address? For the other errors which result in a coaster, the writing fails to even start, according to the log. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Saturday, 21 November 2009, 11:19:43 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 11:11:28 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! mmalves Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Update ImgBurn if you haven't already. Try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks. You might also want to use a lens cleaning disc on that burner.
