david_129 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Hi everyone, I've used these forums for sometime and now but this will be my first post. First off, many thanks to the author of this software for all the hard work. it's greatly appreciated as I've had little problems before now. I've been having problems recently burning 360 backup media. Layer break it seems since imgburn 2.5 every time i go to burn i get a miscompare and the drive always burns quicker than 2.4 speed (which i specifically select). 've tried two computers (both running windows 7) with two different burners and two fresh installations of imgburn in each case. I've also used two types of media. The first is bulkpaq 2.4 speed DVD+R DL media which has always worked in the past and seldom works now. The second is Verbatim DVD+R DL. Both results are the same. I must of wasted 3 hours searching the web for help and well over 25 discs trying to solve this issue. I basically can't burn any backups at this point regardless of what media i use, on what computer and with either burner. i'm on the verge of buying a new pioneer burner to be sure but thought i'd ask here first. before asked, yes both drives have the most up to date firmware, one is a TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203P ATA and the other is a Sony DVD RW DRU-V200S ATA all settings are on defaults except for the layer break setting . Results typically are 50% failed burning and 50% successful burning but when looking at the disc looks like a bad burn (uneven burning bands etc) and obviously none read in the 360 device. I am thinking the the faster burning speeds could be a reason why these discs do not work properly, could anyone help me here please? I've tried to include as much information as i think relevant, if there is anything else that you require lease let me know an i'll get it posted. Here is a burning log:

LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 The 'supported' write speeds (based on your drive/firmware/media combo) are clearly displayed in the disc info panel on the right when you're on the main screen and also in the log window when the operation starts. I 08:19:16 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x) So it doesn't matter if you select 2.4x or 56x, the drive is only ever going to burn at one of those 3 speeds. If they burn and verify ok, there's no problem (in that drive anyway). If you aren't happy with the burn quality at 4x, try one of the other supported speeds. Slowest isn't always best. If you aren't happy with the burn quality in general (all speeds), buy a new drive.
