lfcrule1972 Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Have you burnt any of these discs in this spindle without an error ? Are the discs from your usual supplier ?
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Wasn?t there a fella here a few weeks back who had problems with the same drive? I only remember because this drive can be cross-flashed as a BenQ1620 which apparently (may or may not) fixes it.
lfcrule1972 Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 You're right - this one ? http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1075&hl=DVD8631 The upshot was a burner change.....
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 The thread was this one. Almost the same model but both can be flashed as a BenQ1620. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1226&hl=1620
happy won Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 I have burned hundreds of disks with version 1.2 and never had an issue. Installed 1.3 and coasted 3 in a row have no idea why. Used the same disk I always have with a Lite-On SHM-165P6S RTL any help would be appreciated.... HELP
Flawless115 Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 The thread LFC mentions was my original post when I had the Philips 8631 that was giving me problems. Apparently, the Philips 8600 series can be cross-flashed to a BenQ 1620, while the Philips 8700 series can be cross-flashed to a BenQ 1640 (which is what I did when I got my new drive). I should have tried to cross-flash the "defective" Philips 8631 to a BenQ 1620 to see if it improved things any. However, if I would have done that and still had problems, it would have voided the warranty and I wouldn't have been able to get the drive replaced.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Happy one, please explain why you're calling these discs coasters. Do you have a log to show us or anything? Do you get the program to verify what it burns? If not, now might be a good time to start doing so.

I just never had any issues with 1.2 and started 1.3 and havent gotten a good disk yet.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Well I can't think for the life of me what it could be, that's why I'm hoping the log will give us more info. Don't forget about the verify part too please.
happy won Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Well I can't think for the life of me what it could be, that's why I'm hoping the log will give us more info. Don't forget about the verify part too please. I tried it again and it worked fine. I did use the verify option the only thing I can think of was that I had AnyDVD running I turned it off because ImgBurn told me to but I probably needed to reboot. I did a soft reboot but probably needed to do a hard reboot before I burned them. All is fine now. THank you for your help. I will see if my Paypal account is still working and get you a donation to this great project and all your hard work.
