PenguinBarber Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) Ok so I just made my fourth coaster in a row and decided I need help... and also some good advices regardning my burning issues. First two coasters was done using a different software so forget all about that (didnt burn second layer), third attempt (first one with imgburn) went to 7% before calling it quits so I figured bad media. Went ahead and updated writer firmware (samsung sh-s202J) just in case, rebooted and this time I actually got to around 93%, sigh. Img file should be clean. Media is looking sketchy tho, maybe burning at 8x was a mistake.. log attached. I have a feeling I'll be flamed for this as theres obviously some thread I didnt read... Hmm log file.. mmalves Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 You're right, the obvious thread is this -> http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 You could try burning at 6x or 4x if you feel like making more coasters

I thought expensive TDK's (thats what the tag said anyways) would do but.. sigh. I'll make one more try at lower speed before I aknowledge defeat. Edited December 10, 2009 by PenguinBarber
PenguinBarber Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 Burning reeeally slow worked, this media still sucks tho Going Verbatim next time.
SUPERCOOLMAN Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I used Optiarc DVD RW AD-7200S 1.0A to burn DVD+R DL made in china (Prodisc ... etc), TDK's and Verbatim at 4X for more than 3 months ago and all of these backups are still playable as of now. -just another solution besides trying different brands of blank media
spinningwheel Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 just another solution besides trying different brands of blank media If you play with media long enough you may get it to work after your trial and error period os over, however some media is purely crap and it becomes a matter of chance as to whether it works or not. What we recommend here is designed to eliminate one of the many things that can go wrong with the process and media is always a big iitem when problems arise. What works for you is fine, however it does not invalidate the fact that we try to steer users to the best solution to their problem.
