Synchronising Cache

Tried to burn an iso today and was surprised that it didn't work. ImgBurn has been pretty much fool proof for me since I started using it, and that's been a while.

I've tried three different iso's with the same result, ImgBurn just gets stuck on Synchronising Cache. Few days ago I did do a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate x64, before I was on XP Pro x64. I'm no expert but that can't be a coincidence.

Checked for new firmware for my iHAS324, couldn't find anything on Lite-On global.

Here's the log file, I pressed F8 after is gets stuck and also again after I hit cancel.

After a restart I tried to burn the same image this log came from with Win 7's integrated image burner and much to my sadness......it worked.

Have you installed the RAID drivers for your SATA controller? Do you really need RAID? By the way, you can find the latest firmware for your burner here, but I'm not sure it's a good idea to update it while connected to a RAID controller.

I have installed the drivers for my raid controller, atm they are version 9-11_win7_32-64_raid. I do need the raid because my two hard drives are in raid 0.

Thank you for the link to the newer firmware's. I'm not sure what you mean by "not sure it's a good idea to update it while connected to a RAID controller", how else would I connect it? It's not hooked up to an add on card if that's what your thinking. No matter what sata port on the mobo I use it's gonna come up like that, unless I start changing bios settings.

Optical drives don't work well when connected to RAID controllers: if the RAID driver and controller don't pass along the commands and responses from the burner, the communication can stall and that's not something you'd want to happen in the middle of updating your burner's firmware.

If you have a SATA to USB adapter or could temporarily plug the burner to another computer/controller not running in RAID mode then you could safely update your burner's firmware, or at least that's how I would do it :)

Problem solved and it only took a half dozen coasters. :whistling:

I updated the firmware and that did not help, no problems updating a sata burner connected to on-board sata/raid controller either.

Which there shouldn't be, that's the way they plug together.

What did work was switching my mobo's ide combined setting to enabled. That made the board put my sata drive over on an ide channel, to Windows anyway, you effectively loose an ide channel but oh well. I originally dismissed this as a possibility because I had no problem before on XP with the setting disabled. I'd be interested to know why leaving combined mode disabled worked on XP and not in 7.

Thank you mmalves for suggesting (RAID) might be the issue, it made me take a second look.
