Newbie Here In Desperate Need Of Help!

First time attempting to burn to dvd-rw i converted the movie from an avi to a mpeg on a seperate programme then loaded it up, created image file, burned it and everything it said all was good and the tune played at the end to tell me that it was sucessful, but when i tried to play it on dvd player, it failed (dvd player has had no problems in the past played burned discs)

 

I'm new and have not a clue on what to do so if someone could help out or point me in the right direction, i would be eternally gratful
