dvd says its full when its not

Okay i bought new disks , they are DVD-R & they are brand new . I am trying to burn a wmv movie onto it and Dvd flick says it will do it . & It gets to the finalizing and burning and it never ends. & then when i put it in the dvd player it says that its not a dvd disk. & stuff . Please i have to get this done by Christmas !!! & i really need it done !!! pleaseee ! I tired downloading firmware but it didnt work . Maybe some more firmware links ... but then i looked on the site and it says theres no firmware for my driver but then i found one firmware but it didnt work. Please Help ! Oh yeah on the bottom it says : Dvd not empty .But then heres the drive info :

Your burner thinks the disc isn't empty. Try other blanks until you find one that shows up as empty. If you're going to buy blanks then get Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks because they certainly will work with your burner.

thank you , i tried different blanks & it worked . like 4 of them didnt but thanks anyways (:
