teja Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Is there a preferred write speed to get a quality burn? Is slower better? Thank You
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 It totally depends on the drive, firmware and media combo being used. The only way to know for sure is to burn a disc at each 'supported' speed and then scan (PIPO/Disc Quality) them all in a decent scanning drive (LiteOn/BenQ/Plextor). 8x is usually a safe bet on single layer DVD-R and DVD+R media. It's harder to judge on double layer media because a lot of drives are still rubbish at burning most of the DL media that's currently available!
