jdev Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Appreciate a little help, Trying to copy some files from DVD to a harddrive after burning from ISO / GI files to DVD-R. When attempting to copy the files I get an error message saying "Cannot Copy Drivers: Cannot read from source file or disk" Also some files I get the error "Cannot Copy filename: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check" Have I done something wrong in the burning to disk? The software seems straight forward. Thanks, James.
Cynthia Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I get the feeling that your burn was not a good one and now when you try to read it back it can't be read = cyclic redundancy check" Did you use the verify option when you burned the disc?
jdev Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Yes, used the verify and did not see anything go wrong in the log. One thing I just realised I only have the problem with the .gi files. Regards, James.
Cynthia Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 If you have another reader/computer - tried to read it in that drive?
jdev Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Yes, can see the files in both computers.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Do you still have the log of you burning and verifying this image? Archived logs can be accessed via the 'Help' menu in the program. Copy + paste that bit of it if you do please.
jdev Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Here is one sample, I have found a temporary solution to my problem by yanking the files out using a VCD program. LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Thanks for that. By verifying ok, that Matshita drive has said it can read every sector on the disc and as such, it should have no problem copying the individual files back off it. That is of course assuming the original GI image was ok in the first place and that it was interpreted correctly. Does 'E:\DesktopImageApps\XPSP3v12009.04.01\Disc 1' only contain a single file called 'XPSP3v12009.04.01-1 (1_0).gi' or is it a multi-part GI file? Do the size of the large files add up to roughly what you see in the log file there? I 18:07:56 Image File Sectors: 1,048,560 (MODE1/2048)I 18:07:56 Image File Size: 2,147,450,880 bytes
jdev Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 There are 3 .gi files XPSP3v12009.04.01-1 (1_0).gi 2097120kb XPSP3v12009.04.01-1 (1_1).gi 593024kb XPSP3v12009.04.01-1.gi 2kb James.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 You should be loading the little 2kb file then, not the big ones. Loading the little one will pull in the 2 big ones, at the moment you're only burning part of the overall image - hence the reason for it not working! If it doesn't let you load the little one, please attach it in your next post or email it to support.
jdev Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 Funny that, I was just in the middle of trying that. Someone at work had told me to use the larger one. From your last post I was guessing along that line. & I just tested, guess what! That was it thanks.
