Alf928 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Hi all, I've recently noticed an odd issue burning ISO files. I have just recently migrated to a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64, with ImgBurn 2.5.0.0 (downloaded from here). The issue occurs when I'm burning iso files multiple times or multiple iso files one after another. The first burn would be without issues, the second one would go to about 40% then stall. By stall I mean the in-use light on the Burner is out and in ImgBurn, the ETA is unknown and no progress. After waiting about 5 minutes, the burn will complete successfully. By then I'm spooked, so I wait about 5 minutes before starting another burn. This also pauses (but not always). When this happens, I verify the disks after the burn is complete and verification is always successful. I'm using Verbatim DVD-R 16x disks. I have not seen this behaviour before and I'm wondering what could be causing it? I've got the SATA version of the DVR-216D and my SATA ports are in AHCI mode. The drive is just over 1 year old. I previously had Vista HP x64 with ImgBurn and did not have this issue. Something else I've noticed is that in the ImgBurn log, it says "OPC: No". There is a utility on the Pioneer website called "DVR-116D/216D Optimal Writing Speed Utility automatically adjusts writing speeds (prioritizes writing quality) writing speeds for high speed DVD-R/+R media" - do I need this to enable OPC? mmalves Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Look for updated drivers for your SATA controller. Also post your Filter Driver Load Order (look in ImgBurn's Tools menu). As for the OPC, it isn't the same as Pioneer's Optimal Write Speed feature (look 2 lines further in the log and you'll see about OWS). Have a look over at cdfreaks forum in the Pioneer section as people have tested that OWS feature (probably OPC too even being a completely different thing).
Alf928 Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Look for updated drivers for your SATA controller. I have just checked that I have Intel's latest controller drivers (including Intel Matrix Storage Manager as well). Also post your Filter Driver Load Order (look in ImgBurn's Tools menu). As requested: =============================================== Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.5.0.0 =============================================== Upper Device Filter: [None Found] Upper Class Filter: [None Found] Device: CD/DVD-ROM Device Lower Class Filter: [None Found] Lower Device Filter: [None Found] As for the OPC, it isn't the same as Pioneer's Optimal Write Speed feature (look 2 lines further in the log and you'll see about OWS). Have a look over at cdfreaks forum in the Pioneer section as people have tested that OWS feature (probably OPC too even being a completely different thing). Thanks, will check out cdfreaks.
mmalves Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Does it also have that pause if you try with Test Mode enabled?
Alf928 Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Does it also have that pause if you try with Test Mode enabled? I have not tried that yet. Will give that a go when I get back home tonight.
