acid box Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 hi i have 2 dvd drives. and they both support multi media in dvds. BUT both of them fail for booktype such bit setting. i tried to do with imgburn and no luck and then i used dvdinfopro and it said that both of my drives dont support bit setting. _NEC ND DVD+-RW 3650A (internal) firmware: 108c PLDS DVD+-RW DX-20A6Q (external) firmware: 6D17 sigh wth do i do.. =/ before wasted a spindle of mine and still no clue what's going on. and omg working with xbox 360's been a stressful.
Cynthia Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Normally Necs book type +R DL, Can you see in the burn log that it didn't? The DX-20A6Q seems to be a rebadged Lite-On. If you use the Lite-On tab in the book type function do you get errors?
acid box Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 yes i do get errors. okay i inserted blank dvd+r DL in both drivers and here are some results. for .dvd file added. source: file name.dvd label: DVD_ROM Imp ID: Microsoft CDIMAGE UDF File Sys: ISO9660, UDF(1.50) Sectors: 3,827,488 (MODE1/2048)(LB:1,913,760) Size: 7,838,695,424 bytes Time: 850:35:13(MM:SS:FF) Destination: [0:0:0]PLDS DVD+-RW DX-20A6Q (E:) ================================================= and rest in right pane... ~~~For Lite-ON badged PLDS external drive: PLDS DVD+-RW DX-20A6Q 6D17 (USB) Current Profile: DVD+R DL Disc Information: Status: Empty Erasable: No Free Sectors: 4,173,824 Free Space: 8,547,991,552 bytes Free Time: 927:32:74 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x DVD±R DL Boundary Information: L0 Data Zone Capacity: 2,086,912 Changeable: Yes Physical Format Information (ADIP): Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66 Book Type: DVD+R DL Part Version: 1 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 2 Track Path: Opposite Track Path (OTP) Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 16,580,607 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 2,283,519 Physical Format Information (Last Recorded): Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66 Book Type: DVD+R DL Part Version: 1 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 2 Track Path: Opposite Track Path (OTP) Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 16,580,607 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 2,283,519 Performance (Write Speed): Descriptor 1... -> B0: 0x00, B1: 0x00, B2: 0x00, B3: 0x00 -> EL: 4173823 (0x003FAFFF) -> RS: 11,080 KB/s (8x) - WS: 5,540 KB/s (4x) Descriptor 2... -> B0: 0x00, B1: 0x00, B2: 0x00, B3: 0x00 -> EL: 4173823 (0x003FAFFF) -> RS: 11,080 KB/s (8x) - WS: 8,310 KB/s (6x) Descriptor 3... -> B0: 0x00, B1: 0x00, B2: 0x00, B3: 0x00 -> EL: 4173823 (0x003FAFFF) -> RS: 11,080 KB/s (8x) - WS: 11,080 KB/s (8x) =========================================== ~~~and for the NEC drive: _NEC DVD+-RW ND-3650A 108C (ATAPI) Current Profile: DVD+R DL Disc Information: Status: Empty Erasable: No Free Sectors: 4,173,824 Free Space: 8,547,991,552 bytes Free Time: 927:32:74 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 4x, 6x DVD±R DL Boundary Information: L0 Data Zone Capacity: 2,086,912 Changeable: Yes Physical Format Information (ADIP): Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66 Book Type: DVD+R DL Part Version: 1 Disc Size: 120mm Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified Number of Layers: 2 Track Path: Opposite Track Path (OTP) Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit Track Density: 0.74 um/track First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608 Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 16,580,607 Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 2,283,519 Performance (Write Speed): Descriptor 1... -> B0: 0x00, B1: 0x00, B2: 0x00, B3: 0x00 -> EL: 4173824 (0x003FB000) -> RS: 6,925 KB/s (5x) - WS: 5,540 KB/s (4x) Descriptor 2... -> B0: 0x00, B1: 0x00, B2: 0x00, B3: 0x00 -> EL: 4173824 (0x003FB000) -> RS: 11,080 KB/s (8x) - WS: 8,310 KB/s (6x) =================================================== anyways that was just the results stuff. okay when i go to the booktype settings then it's like when i choose the NEC tab device: my drive current media: DVD+R DL change for: please select and whatever i choose into that field.. it's like Unknown (FAILED! Reason: Invalid Command Operation Code so it's giving me error on all the settings. and when i choose the lite ON tab it's like Unknown (FAILED!) Reason: Invalid Field in CDB Except one option: Current Media (For DVD+RW Media) and then i come down and change for DVD-ROM same thing happens with a box msg: Invalid Field in CDB. and sigh no custom firmwares for my drivers found anywhere. anyways sorry for a damn long post. thanks for replying.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 What does it say in the disc info panel on the right for a DVD+R DL disc that has been burnt? Copy + paste it for a disc burnt in each of the drives please.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 As Cynthia kinda mentioned in her first post, most drives automatically change the booktype on DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM by default - i.e. you don't have to touch anything.
