Dano Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I have an optiarc AD-7240S. It's brand new, just installed yesterday. I have burned two verbatim DVD+R DL disks. Both turned out fine, except while I was burning them, the device buffer would quickly drop to zero, then build back up. It did this about every 20 seconds during the entire burn. The system buffer never dropped at all. Is this normal for dual layer disks on this drive?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Where's the log? (as per the pink box at the top which you can't possbily have missed - right?! ) Post the graph data file too please (or a screenshot having opened it in DVDInfoPro/BurnPlot/Opti Drive Control).
Dano Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 sorry, i'm at work. I should have waited to post this when i got home. I'll post the log when I can get it.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 The graph looks fine to me, just the normal dips where the drive performs OPC (checks the laser power is still ok and giving a good burn).
Dano Posted February 12, 2010 Author Posted February 12, 2010 so, it's normal for the device buffer to drop to zero when it's performing the OPC? Only reason I ask, is with my older IDE pioneer drive the buffers always stayed at max I forgot to say i'm running on windows 7. Thanks
Cynthia Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 All Nec/Optiarc drives I've owned have done the same drop to zero during burning.
dbminter Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I believe my NEC/Optiarc drives did the same thing as well.
