Cynthia Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 There is a later firmware to install. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Optiarc/AD-5200A/files.html The slowest speed you can burn with is 4x on that media.
erriezeeka Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 i've eddited my first post with these sentences:"i selected a NEC drive because i could'nt select a Sony drive. The NEC drive was the only one where i could select DVD-rom". but you're saying that i have to update my firmware and set the speed to 4x? and what about the drives? i can't select a Sony drive. Only NEC works???
Cynthia Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I 14:04:07 Found 1 DVD±RW and 4 BD-ROM/HD DVD-ROMs! Assuming that the 4 later ones are some type of virtual drives? The Sony drive - is that a burner? If so, can you see it in Windows Device Manager? The speed 4x is the lowest you can use. If you select 2.4x it will use 4x. 6x and 8x are also possible to use.
erriezeeka Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 yeah. those are virtual drives. and the Sony is a burner yes. the only one in fact. and yes i can see it in windows device manager.
Cynthia Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 So in Device Manager there is only one burner - the Sony? Or you can see both two?
Cynthia Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 i can see this: I 14:07:23 Destination Device: [2:0:0] Optiarc DVD RW AD-5200A 1.05 (E:) (ATA) So the Sony is the one you are using in the posted log. Optiarc = Sony + NEC The NEC drive was the only one where i could select DVD-rom. I guess you went into the book type settings and set DVD +R DL to DVD-ROM? You shouldn't needed that extra step as Optiarcs book type that media by default.
erriezeeka Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 the following steps i followed: write image file to disc --> tools --> settings --> tab-write --> user specified --> i typed in 1913760 --> ok --> book type settings --> NEC --> change for: Drive (for DVD+R DL Media)--> new settings: DVD-Rom --> ok --> burn disc. this is the way a friend told me to follow. what did i do wrong?
Cynthia Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 the following steps i followed: write image file to disc --> tools --> settings --> tab-write --> user specified --> i typed in 1913760 --> ok --> book type settings --> NEC --> change for: Drive (for DVD+R DL Media)--> new settings: DVD-Rom --> ok --> burn disc. this is the way a friend told me to follow. what did i do wrong? Nothing. But you could have skipped the book type step as the model of burner you have sets it to DVD-ROM by default when you burn +R DL media. But no problem. After the update of firmware. Try to burn at the three available speeds, if the fist one should still give you errors. If all three speeds fails, then your burner simply don't support that media code very well.
erriezeeka Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 so the best thing to do now is set the speed to 4x and skip the book type thing? i just don't want to screw up another dual layer:)
Cynthia Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 If you used the non temporary setting in the book type setting, it stays to DVD-ROM until you flash the drive with a new firmware. If you want to be really sure. Set the book type to DVD-ROM after you updated the firmware to 1.09.
erriezeeka Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 so i have to select NEC and than i have to select DVD-ROM?
Cynthia Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Yes, the NEC tab is also for your Optiarc burner.
erriezeeka Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 god damn. now i get this: wtf do i wrong
Cynthia Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I guess that was the 4x speed and you got a reading error during the verify part. Only thing is to try 6x and 8x. If that also fails, get better media or a drive that supports that media. Ritek is tricky to burn with older drives.
erriezeeka Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 yes this was the 4x speed. i'm using platunum dual layer disc's. those are the best dual layer discs available (i guess) and a friend of my always uses these for xbox 360 games. what should i do. 6x or 8x? i only have 1 disc left:P
Cynthia Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I guess your friend have another model of burner? 8x is what I would try with.
erriezeeka Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 yeah i guess so. mayby it's better to try it on a other pc?
