before i begin with the problem, let me say that i am making backup copies of my very own XBOX 360 games. And now to the problem, i used to never have any problems making backup copies of my games, but for the last couple of months ive been getting this I/O ERROR every now and then but not everytime. Last month i was able to make a couple of copies and then sometimes it would give me the I/O ERROR. so i was getting the error sometimes and then sometimes it would work perfectly. i havent changed anything since it was working perfectly, so im still using the exact same discs that i was using (WINDATA DISCS), and im still using the same dvd burner, so everything is the same, i havent changed anything. if anyone can help me, then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out here. ANY HELP IN RESOLVING MY PROBLEM WILL BE VERY APPRECIATED.

there are 2 different windows. theres the ImgBurn Log and then theres the I/O ERROR window.

Yes, it's because there's some failure with the tracking servo in your drive when burning to those disc.

so what does that mean? do i have a problem with my disc drive or what? how do i fix it? and why couldnt you have been much more specific in your response to my problem? you told me what is causing the problem, but yet you gave me no solution on to how to fix it. thanks alot man. i hope LIGHTNING UK will give me a better response if he reads this again. how do i ask him a question? can i private message him?

Stop waiting for someone to hold you by the hand and read what was posted. Your problem isn't any different than the million and one others we answered before, hence why we created that topic about dual-layer burning.

You're right, I didn't help at all. (my post was sarcastic)

All I did was expand the error code your drive reported into more of a sentence - and I did that because it means as much to me as it does to you.

I write ImgBurn, I do not make drives or their firmware.

im trying to make a backup copy of assassins creed 2 and i keep getting this I/O ERROR and it also says that theres a tracking servo failure. does anyone know what this means? i used to never have any problems backin u games and now i keep wasting discs because it stops at around 30-40 percent on every disc. and sometimes it lets me copy the game but i usually get this error. if yo can tell me what the problem is and how to fix it i would deeply appreciate it. thanks in advance.

Have you emailed RICOH and asked them about this error or maybe Try LG .

You could also email Ubisoft and see what they say.

Or you could choose the simplest way to try and fix your problem.

Buy some Verbatim 2.4x MKM-001-00 and hope your dvd writer is still working to write to the disc.

The trouble is you may have had all your Ricoh work so far, their media is very inconsistent to many many users though. You may not have seen it before but now it's either your time to witness this or the drive you are using is at fault or maybe you have messed up your systems IDE/SATA drivers / filter drivers etc.

So try verbs @2.4x then @ 8x if still the same buy yourself a new dvd writer and use the rest of your Verbs or try you Ricoh again
