Jimbo Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 We are not here to help pirates. What do you mean by pirate. I was trying to make a back-up copy of a Dvd that I own. Taiyo Yuden is inferior to Verbatim?

Taiyo Yuden is inferior to Verbatim? To me YES! and like i said, your Samsung Burner might not get along with Taiyo Yudens... Till u dont try a Verbatim DVD-R, you won't know if thats the case... by the way, dont buy Verbatim DVDs from the Value Pack... they use the cheap CMC dye... Edited March 3, 2010 by eSkRo
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 TYG02 is an awesome dye and I'd take it over anything else. Have you tried just setting the speed to 8x? Was that your first and only failure or did you try burning a few times? Are your TY's actually branded by TY or are they sold under another name?
Jimbo Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the reply. The TY's are premium, are labeled, made in Japan, bought them from Supermedia store, I have set IMgburn to burn at 8X for TY 02 and 03. For the most part they are ok with this Samsung burner, I have Verbatim disk's also that have had an occasional failure.I am going to try them on a Benq 1940 and a Plextor 760A for a comparison. LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 That log you posted said you were burning them at 'MAX' speed - i.e. 12x in that drive
Jimbo Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 That log you posted said you were burning them at 'MAX' speed - i.e. 12x in that drive Thanks. I forgot that I recently re-installed IMgburn, because the log was not showing up, works now. I failed to reset my auto speeds. Am doing so now.

Taiyo Yuden is inferior to Verbatim? The date was before release date. Unless the time zones are different. I am on EST, in NJ, USA. The disk was not pirated.
