cdoug55 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 sorry to birng this topic back up, but I just had a chance to try and download the firmware update and Im having some trouble. I tried to download that file and it doesn't download a zip file. Its just some blank file that I can't open, it just asks me to browse for a program to open it with. Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong?
LOCOENG Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Right click on the file and choose "open with"...then select your favorite zip program ie. winzip, winrar, 7zip etc. etc. etc.
cdoug55 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 I tried that but there is no option to open with those programs bc the file that downloads is not a zip file. Is there any other site where i can get the firmware?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I don't know why you weren't linked to here in the first place. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Optiarc/AD-7580S/files.html
cdoug55 Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 Ok maybe im an idiot, but that was what i was linked to originally. Now it says its a zip file but when i download it, it is not a zip file. Can someone else download it and tell me if they have the same issue?
mmalves Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Just add a .zip extension and it'll open in WinRAR/7-Zip/etc.

Can someone else download it and tell me if they have the same issue? You are not an idiot. There is something wrong with the file at that page. I'll fix it. You can just add the .zip ot the filename of the file you downloaded and it will be a working zip.file to extract. Edit: Fixed the FHQ issue.
cdoug55 Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 Thanks. Well I updated that and now Ill just have to get some Verbatim discs.
cdoug55 Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Hey sorry to keep revisting this. I upgraded the software as suggested and recently I have attempted to make some copies of my dvd using DVDNextCopy and I am still havign burning issues which I think might be the discs as we previously discussed. My new issue is that after the burn goes through, or I should say finishes, but unsuccessfully, my computer will freeze when I try to do anything else (i.e. open a new program). Could this have anything to do with the new software?
