alex95 Posted March 9, 2010 Share Posted March 9, 2010 My write speed has declined dramatically. I used to average about 8 - 10x, but now it is 2 - 3x. I thought the problem might be due to a recent upgrade of SPTD driver, so I removed it but no effect on write performance. I found that the drive was operating in PIO mode, as the referenced post suggested. Deleted the driver and rebooted, and now it is set to DMA mde. Also, thanks for the info on the new firmware. I have a friend who has a slow read problem on his PC (he doen't write CDs/DVDs too often) and I was wondering if the I/O mode setting could be the problem in his case also. Thanks!! . . . mmalves Posted March 10, 2010 Share Posted March 10, 2010 Yes, it does affect read speed too, but if he's reading DVD-Video discs (e.g. movies/series/etc) then it could be due to riplock. Can't he do a test burn at MAX speed with DVD-R/DVD-RW media like you did?
