Burning Slow

Okay so here is my problem.

I am trying to burn a couple .ISO 's to discs and its just not working out.

I have made dozens and dozens if not hundreds of discs with Imgburn on multiple computers and this is the first problem I have had.

Info:

HP dvd1040 external burner. Bought it on Newegg about a year and a half ago. Works great.

Memorex DVD+R (16x 4.7 GB 120min) discs from Walmart. I have burnt all my discs with these without any problems.

Back to my problem. I started a burn and started browsing online waiting for it to finish up and eject. Check back after 14 minutes (should have been done by then) and it was 23% done. Canceled that, ended up with a coaster. Did the same thing two more times for a total of 3 wasted discs before I decided reinstall Imgburn. That didnt fix it so I stopped and posted this. Any help at all would be nice.

Basically, writing at 0.7x speed when it should be writing at 6x or 8x.

Here is my log:

Your saying that you have used several computers in the past. Have you burnt anything before with this computer?

The basic issue is that your computer can't feed the burner fast enough with data. To me it looks as it's connected to an USB 1.0/1.1 channel. Tried to attach the USB to another USB switch on the computer?

No, I have been burning using this drive with this computer.

I meant I have used Imgburn on other computers without issues.

Actually, last night I organized and labeled the nest of cables and cords under my computer and I may have plugged the drive into a different USB port. There are 4 on the back. Could one possibly be different?

Try replacing the burner's USB cable with another one certified for USB 2.0 speeds. I've also had that happen when the power supply wasn't delivering enough energy as it should.

By the way, you can use the Read mode with a burned/pressed disc to test the speed: if it's above 1.0x then it's working in USB 2.0 mode.

Thanks guys ! I switched USB ports and then to test it I tried "Make an image from disc". That was working at the desired speed I chose. Then I went to "burn image to disc" and that worked perfectly fine writing at normal speed.

I cant belive it was something so simple. . .
