LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Try some of the other supported write speeds, your drive might actually perform better at those speeds. You could also try cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc.
gtv Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 (edited) I've changed pack but not media type (Verbatim MKM-003) and I burn at 4x another DVDmovie (STARDUST, not E VENNE IL GIORNO) and the result is OK. Also with a new pack and 4x speed the old DVDmovie newly send me an error (E VENNE IL GIORNO, with the layer break at 66/34; Padding 1; File VTS_02; LU N/A; PGC 1; Chapter 1; Cell 1; V/C ID 2/1; Start time 00:00:00; SPLIP No; and the green star "excellent"). The error happened at 65% disc, so I think that would be produced by the layer break (66/34), fixed on a small VTS of extra. This is the log and sorry for my bad English: edit: I've cleaned Disc lens with a Vivanco dry kit "Clean Care System" I 11:08:26 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 You still have 6x, 8x and 10x that you could try. To be fair though, it should work at any speed without you having to mess around with anything. So either the dye on the discs isn't quite what the drive is expecting of MKM-003-00 or the drive is just on its way out.

So either the dye on the discs isn't quite what the drive is expecting of MKM-003-00 or the drive is just on its way out. Sorry, but I've understood only that there are other burn speeds to try but I don't understand remaining things... Can you explain in other words? Thanks a lot "To be fair though"?? "you having to mess around with anything" ? "the drive is just on its way out" ? Edited April 22, 2010 by gtv
Cynthia Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Where are those Verbatims made in? (should be stated on the package)
gtv Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 Oh, I LOVE GOOGLE TRANSLATE!!! So, you say that either the discs are fake (or not perfect) or my burner will die in few days. It's strange, because I bought it 5-6 months ago and previously i had got a burner s-ata that caused some problems; for this reason, knowing my pc config, i bought this pioneer with old EIDE
gtv Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 There are Verbatim dual layer DVD+R DLs made in India #43666 0709-03
gtv Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 On the die I read: 9116 804 +RC D6 EA :12949 (on the trasparent) ZE2443-DVR-X851C (written in specular way on the silver part)

Cynthia Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Only issue is the hard disk that can't feed the burner fast enough. Are you running some other stuff while burning?
gtv Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 No, maybe only Kaspersky that is downloading updates while Imgburn burns...
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Do you have something against SP3 for XP? You should check your machine isn't trying to defrag, index or scan (for viruses etc) the hdd when it doesn't seem to be busy. The buffer is only 40mb and yet each time it empties out and buffer recovery kicks in, it's taking 20 - 30 seconds to fill it back up. Defragging the drive might actually help. There are lots of freeware ones available - i.e. Defraggler.
