King_Drax_I Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Is there a facility for burning CDs in RAW mode? I have seen that you can scan CDs in RAW, but what about burning them, please? Yes, I have looked first !
eSkRo Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 (edited) for DVDs --------- Writing in 'RAW' does what it says on the tin. It writes the disk exactly as you tell it too. With/without bad sectors etc. With current DVD-RW drives, they only 'allowed' to burn in DOA/96. The RAW writing mode for DVDs was never made due to a copyright law for CDs ---------- To copy a disc in "raw" mode, you need the right reader, the right writer, and the right software. Programs like CloneCD specialize in "raw" copies, but require that the CD-ROM drive used to read discs and the recorder used to write them support "raw" reads and writes. The web page for CloneCD is a good place to look for a list of capable hardware. Edited April 3, 2010 by eSkRo
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 ImgBurn doesn't support the 'Raw' write type, just SAO, TAO and Incremental.
TheShadowRunner Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 +1 RAW Mode for burning CDs would be awesome indeed. I've been using CDRWin for years and since I changed my drive, the "RAW" option has become greyed-out in CDRWin. I suspect because support for drives newer than 2010 has just never been implemented in this soft (which is now dead ) Looking for a solution, I found Alcohol 120% does support RAW mode for my drive and it works just fine. But I'm otherwise _really_ not a fan of Alcohol and certainly wished I could do the same in ImgBurn instead and ditch Alcohol (lol). I hope LIGHTNING would reconsider a RAW option for Write Mode (at least for CDs!).

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Raw mode doesn't even apply to DVDs, nor ISO image.
TheShadowRunner Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Hi LIGHTNING, so is there hope in the future for burning CDs in RAW DAO mode? That'd be really awesome. See you,TSR
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Not really, no. You'll have to continue to use existing solutions.

LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Rosanna, There's just no such thing as RAW mode for DVD/BD. Moving to different countries etc doesn't come into it.
