Hello;

I am a new user to the forums :D

I recently purchased an original Playstation from ebay and had an acquaintance place a Mod chip inside. I am having issues with skipping, and lag, and endless "loading" loops. My burning program of choice, of course, is imgburn and I have the latest version. It appears like my drive can only go as slow as 8x when it comes to CD-R images (which is my first problem)

I tried two different brands of media, Sony and HP. I got slightly better success burning with the HP than the Sony, which shocked me...

Anywho, my questions are these

1) Would I really benefit to going to a better media? or is HP acceptable? If not, what brand would(s) would you say are acceptable for my purpose.

2) Would I benefit from getting a new burner? If so, what would you recommend that would burn the discs as slow as possible? If you are unable to assist me with that, can you provide some websites that I can do some research on the minimum speed of burners?

Before I forget, here is information on my burner

The slowest speed doesn't always result in a better burn, so you should try burning at 16x and 24x to test them out. Did you leave Verify enabled? That's what tells you if the disc was a good burn or not.

As for CD-R media, Taiyo Yuden is the best you can get, and you can usually find it in online shops. A good quality new burner could help too.

Now, on another note, you do know that you can play PS1 games on a PS2 console and even on your computer, right? At least in my opinion, it isn't worth all the trouble for the PS1's finicky reader drive.

Tried burning the game and verified it, and that is what i'm getting...I notice errors right off the bat; So I definitely should invest in some Taiyo Yuden discs at minimum. Upon searching, I noticed that there are a few different types of Taiyo Yuden discs...would any of them be acceptable or is one better than another?

What burner would u recommend for the purposes of burning PS1/PS2 games?

And yes, I do know that I can play PS1 games off of my PC...however, my PC would seriously need to be upgraded in order for that to take place...It can't even handle the new Nintendo Emulators fully framed out.

Edit: I'll let you know how the game played

Edit 2: It doesn't hang like it does, but there are still some glaring issues...Going to try to burn it faster...Thanks for your help, and any info as to what is a good burner now a days would be helpful :D

I'm not sure which new burner would be better for CDs but take a look over at cdfreaks and their tests with CD media writing quality ;)

As for Taiyo Yuden media, are you sure you were looking at CD-Rs and not DVD-R/DVD+R?

Well, just a recap, I burned the same game at 48x, which is the max, and It turned out before than before :D. I would have never thought to burn as fast as possible! I really appreciate your help with everything, you are awesome!!

I notice that there is a JVC TY line, a thermal lacquer line, a value line, etc...Which one would be best, or does it really matter?
