I am attempting to duplicate a media burn test with discovery mode and imgburn and dvdinfo, I have found an anomaly, after three scans I keep getting an invisible peak in PIF at the very edge of the disk, transfer test and scan with cdspeed do not confirm. Has anyone else ever experienced such behavior.

3 scans all showed the high pif max, which only showed at the very end, pulled a 96 until then.

cdspeed same disk

Whilst doing the scans for the media forum, I often had one that registered high PIF's or some POF's when the graph didn't show anything of the sort.

For me though, it was normally just a case of closing DVDInfoPro down again, ejecting + reinserting the disc and then scanning again.

It's hard to say where the fault lies as I would expect dvdinfopro to just display the info the drive is returning - there shouldn't really be any room for error.

It is weird and very annoying though so hopefully one of them will fix it!

I didn't try going between CDSpeed and DVDInfoPro as I knew a rescan in DVDInfoPro would probably fix the issue too - and therefore it wouldn't have been a fair test.

If in doubt, submit it to the dvdinfopro 'mantis' bug tracking page and have a moan ;)

thanks luk,

I might rescan, I left the disk in the drive for all three scans but did upgrade the program after the second scan

btw this swisstech(sky) media isn't that bad, hopefully a good sign for media from europe

4th scan after reboot same thing, but scanned in nec 3550, matches cdspeed???????? Must be my benq and/or the dvdinfo setup on my other computer???? Uninstalling dvdinfo and reinstalling

well my problem with dvdinfo and this machine must be related to the size of the disk

a 4400MB burn

I'm sure not going to waste any of these disks on discovery, saved for long term data archiving
