So I don't know if it's a problem with my burner or imgburn but disks I've been trying to burn give me a "Medium Not Present" error after about a 40% burn.Oh I don't think it's the media since I've burned successfully using the media and the burner. The disks are Memorex dual layers. Here's the log, I don't know what other info to add.

Update your burner's firmware and try again.

If 2.4x doesn't work then try 4x, and if it doesn't work then you'll need to try with Verbatim DVD+R DL blanks or with another burner.

The blanks worked in my friend's burner so I'm guessing it's not the medium and I downloaded a different image just to make sure and the burner stopped burning again at 46% so I think it's my burner but I'm not sure. Anyway I could find out?

It's always an issue between the discs, the drive and the firmware. They're the three things that make or break a burn.

Sure, changing the drive might fix it... or the new drive may continue to have an issue with them.

Likewise, changing to Verbs might allow your current drive to burn ok - so where do you put the blame then?

btw, the first error is the real one.

Oh ok, when I get my hands on a Verbatim disk I'll try to burn it and see how that goes.

What does that error mean? and does it matter that I'm trying to burn DL disks as opposed to single layer?

Only the burner's manufacturer can tell you what exactly that error means, and yes, from a technical point of view, burning dual-layer media is a lot more difficult and that's why it's important to use high quality media.
