where's the TOC

when I try to burn on to a new disc I get (device not ready(unable to recover TOC), what does this mean. Its a toshiba dvd rom compact disc rewriteable, I've burned cd's before but not dvd's before

What type of files are you trying to burn? ISO files of some sort (disk image files), video files, etc...?

Your drive does not support the discs you're using.

 

Try looking for a firmware update for it.

You seem to be saying you've only got a DVD ROM/CD-RW combo drive.

 

If it's only a DVD ROM then it can't write DVDs.

 

You'll need a DVD writer for this.
