How do I know what I'm buying are TY discs?

Ask for them by name?

Make sure however that they are the real deal, the price will usualy give you some indication.

When you do get some, pop one in the drive, then copy and paste the info from the right hand side and we'll tell you if they are the real thing.

Good luck.

BenQ DQ1655 or 1650.........

I have the former and its the best drive I have ever owned, for ease of use and firmware updates I can also recommend the NEC drives too

For a user new to DVD burning I'd have to recommend a Pioneer drive like the Pioneer 110 or 111. Why? Because there's no fcuking around with booktypes. That alone is a major benefit. With a Pioneer you burn it and it works. It's that simple.
