Hi guys and gals,

It appears that the book-type isn't changing when writing DVD+R DL discs in ImgBurn with my Optiarc AD-7240S using the modified firmware update suggested in a thread on these forums.

I'm using Verbatim media.

In the above log, it does say that the book-type has been changed to DVD-ROM, however once burnt I select the 'Read' option and it looks to be a different story. Here's the right-hand panel details copied:

That information only mentions the book-type as DVD-ROM under 'last recorded' but it doesn't seem to be present under 'ADIP L0' and 'ADIP L1'. Is this an issue and how can I resolve it as my backups don't seem to want to play in the 360 using this drive set-up.

The booktype that counts is the one under Last Recorded, so it isn't the problem. You didn't Verify the burn so we don't know if the burn was good or not.

Use the Verify mode to verify that disc against that image file, and then please post the log of that operation.

Here's another write with a verification immediate afterwards:

The backup doesn't play on the 360 still. I've burnt the image using a friend's desktop PC burner and it works fine, so it's not my 360 or the image and it's now 3 separate burners I've tried. My laptop burner, a slim USB Samsung burner and an Optiarc AD-7240S with a SATA-USB enclosure.

I'm totally lost and stunned. Any ideas?

Can you try that disc on other X360 consoles to see if it works on them? When you burned the game on your friend's computer, did you use the same blanks you're using with your burners?

Posted (edited)

Yeah, used the exact same batch of discs on my friends desktop burner. Tried both the Verbatims and the Aone's.

Tried the burn from my friend's computer in my 360 and it works, tried the burn from my drives in my friend's 360 and it doesn't work - gives the same kind of 'dirty disc' error after spinning for a couple of seconds.

Try asking in a forum dedicated to Xbox 360. Maybe they have more experience with this kind of problem
