Verbatim DL I/O Write Error

I am trying to burn Verbatim DL DVD+R 8.5 GB dvds and it gives me an error after completing the first layer. I am able to burn aprox. 81% - 89% and it gives me an I/O Write error. I am using an ASUS DRW-1814BL. I have another burner HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B and on this one it is not starting at all. I am using ImbBurn 2.5.1.0.0
