Vorsplummi Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Hi! I'm new with ImgBurn and I'd like to ask about slow reading rate. I've adjust the reading max to 8x (default) but it never get higher than 0.8x. It's frustrating to wait hour for one single cd-image. Is this normal and is there anything to do? I'm using 64-bit Windows 7 and TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223C ATA Device.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Are you using a USB drive anywhere along the line? Sounds like it's USB 1.0 rather than 2.0 if you are. Failing that, follow the DMA post in the FAQ.
Vorsplummi Posted May 31, 2010 Author Posted May 31, 2010 (edited) Thanks for your reply. I'm not completely sure what you mean by having USB drive along the line. But the CDVD drive is directly connected to motherboard with Serial ATA so bandwith is not a problem. I can rip music normally etc. so reading speed is good with other software. It seems that only problems accure when creating images. I add image of Window's device controll. How can I know is DMA enabled or not? Edited May 31, 2010 by Vorsplummi
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 What I mean is, are you reading from or writing to a USB drive? i.e. is the CD/DVD drive USB or is the HDD USB? You don't 'know', you just uninstall the controller entries and reboot (start with the 2 channel one). Check it once you've done that by pulling up the properties of the controllers and channels... one of those should mention the DMA state. The 'uninstall' is required because Windows lies.
