LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 These I/O errors are VERY rarely from bugs in the program, but are from your drive (and it's firmware) not supporting the media very well. Usual things to check... 1. You're using decent media. 2. You're using REAL (not fake) media (still decent, as per number 1 !). 3. Your drive is running the latest firmware.
kevdriver Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Welcome 4400, Do as Corny and LUK suggest, You are running the newest firmware for your burner so this problem could be bad media, even if several burns have worked using that media. The log would enable us to see a whole lot of info including your media ID. Corny has shown you how to do this....

spinningwheel Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 A quick Google found this about your media: CMC Silver TTH02 16x Speed DVD-R MediaThis is THE utter crap media manufacturer of the decade and TDK has apparently rebadged their crap to sell under its' own brand name. Disc ID: 0@P-!-00 Your drive doesn't recognize the MID either... ...another crap media indicator. Order some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim Data Life Plus branded discs and you won't be sorry.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Disc ID only really applies to DVD+R. As you can see, that field often contains rubbish for other media types! For DVD-R, you need to be looking at the 'Manufacturer ID' under 'Pre-recorded Information'. In this case, it's TTH02.
4400 Posted June 2, 2006 Author Posted June 2, 2006 Ok thanks for the advice I am going to buy some dicent DVD even though I thought TDK were good.So that should then fix my promblem ?
Kenadjian Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 even though I thought TDK were good. Like you, I did too, and they were, but recently (in the past 12 months I believe) they decided to change their dye and go with the worst company DVD world has ever known. CMC MAGNETICS. I wasted $60 not so long ago untill I found out that's what they had done. No more TDK's for me.
kevdriver Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Too bad for TDK, a company that used to make 2nd to none VHS and cassette tapes. Loosing thier quality and their customers all to make a few extra bucks.
