The Don Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Hi guys, I have a "Set L0 Data Zone Capacity failed! Reason: Program Memory Area Update Failure" error. I search forum but everywhere you give the same advice - buy new burner, or change media... Please don't giving me this advice, because i burned many times on the same stuff and everything worked PERFECT (write speed 4x too!)... Until couple days ago i used a "RegGenie" (registry cleaner) program, which should fix any errors (but it seems that, unfortunately, did much more). This program removed many .dll files (I restored most of them) and from that moment i can't burn anything. I tried a firmware update but it says that I have the latest version. Please, if someone smart could help? Here is the log and shot: I 22:51:54 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! I do not believe in what I see, do you even read what I wrote at all???????!!!!!! I wrote that everything worked before using REGGENIE, including this firmware (SB02) and these disks!!!!!!!!!!! I upgraded exactly the same firmware intentionally because IT WORKED PERFECTLY BEFORE! (and because REGGENIE could removed something from it). As you can see the new firmware SB03 hasn't changed anything... So again! If anybody really can read and want to help, please help. But, like I said, without that kind of "genius" ideas! The Don Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 Look at post #5. A blanc disc should show you this: 4 173 824 Sectors Thank you for concrete answer. But why everything was good before and now it isn't? Does anybody know, what could REGGENIE (registry cleaner) corrupt in this case?
mmalves Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 The burn relies on the burner/firmware/media combination, and guess what? Burners wear out and media isn't exactly the same even in the same batch. Is it that unacceptable that the cheap blanks you have are defective?
ianymaty Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Exactly you talking about "genius"... When you say: I search forum but everywhere you give the same advice - buy new burner, or change media...Please don't giving me this advice, because i burned many times on the same stuff and everything worked PERFECT (write speed 4x too!)... How genius can you be to use this REGGENIE? Don't know what is doing, but for me their homepage smell fishy Any reg cleaner can't corrupt your firmware installed. It is not a .dll in your system. It is installed in burner internal chip. Don't be so stubborn, use our suggestion if you want, that's whay you came here anyway...

Yes, now i know too that using this shit wasn't wise... but i read couple sugestions before and all were positive. So, if burner internal chip is corrupt, can I fix it?

Burners wear out and media isn't exactly the same even in the same batch. Is it that unacceptable that the cheap blanks you have are defective? It could be acceptable, if I would use them for the first, second or even third time... but I don't. Things don't change from day to day without reason, and I used these "cheap blanks", like you call 'em, from couple batches and they always worked perfectly. Also my burner is brand new (has two months), so the only reason to wear it out is RegGenie. I used verbatims too, so tomorrow I will try them again, but I'm sure it will be the same error. If so, the only thing left is to format my disk... I wonder if this will help... Edited June 6, 2010 by The Don

ianymaty Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 You could try update chipset/storage drivers. I would give a shot with 8x.
