eddiesudz Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 To all that may be able to help me. Just got a new burner last week (Pioneer BDR-205). Updated the drive firmware to 1.08. Tried numerous times to successfully burn a BR disk. Can't seem to get it done. Using DVDFab 7 with IMGburn. Lowered the burn speed to 2x and verified that my disk is supported by the burner. The PC is a Gateway Intel Quad Core 2 Q6600 @ 2.40 GHZ w/8MB Ram running Vista SP2. Here's the burn log..... It always stops burning at a certain point. The log below is after 20 hours of burning.... eddiesudz Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 Hi Cynthia! Forgot to ask..... in regards to the write speed, since the Pioneer website is saying that Maxell BD-R disks are supported at the 2X speed I should NOT try and burn it faster correct? Thanks again.... Hi Cynthia! Thanks for the help. Do you happen to know what.... "W 20:56:47 Failed to Write Sectors 750880 - 750911 - Reason: Synchronous Data Transfer Error" means? Cynthia Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Seen that error in older versions of Nero ages ago. Latest driver installed for the mother board? You can use this page to scan you computer and then press another button to see if there are any later ones. http://www.ma-config.com/

Cynthia Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Another "odd" thing is that your drive is listed as ATAPI. I 20:53:36 Destination Device: [1:5:0] PIONEER BD-RW BDR-205 1.08 (Z:) (ATAPI) For me ATAPI is the same as you use for tape backup devices. I know some mother boards use it also for CD-ROM devices. If you can change it in the BIOS to IDE/SATA that might help. Not all BIOS allows this. It's should be stated in the manual if it's possible to set it to something else than ATAPI.
eddiesudz Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Cynthia.... Interesting catch. Didn't notice the ATAPI designation. I'll see if I can change the settings in the bios. Also went to the website you suggested last week to make sure that all of my drivers and such were up to date. So far I'm current on everything. Maybe this ATAPI thing may be it..... Thanks! LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Make sure you've installed the latest Intel chipset inf driver and also their rapid storage technology driver. You should probably also check the drive is actually attached to the Intel controller on the board and not some 3rd party one which may or may not be present!
eddiesudz Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 well, I've tried everything that has been suggested except for the media which I'll try later..... - Bios won't let me change from ATAPI to IDE/SATA although in the BIOS it shows SATA - Updated ALL drivers, etc. - Tried to burn an ISO file. Failed on Finalizing (Tried 3 times, each time changing burn speed) - Tried to burn a CD off of iTunes. Would not even burn. Tries to write the 1st track, hangs then gives me this message - itunes attempt to burn a disc failed (4850) - Tried to burn the same track using Nero 8. Failed again. Would not finalize - Tried to copy a reg. DVD using DVDFab 7.0.7.0 and ImgBurn. Failed again.... here's the error log: I 17:01:32 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! Cynthia Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Sounds more as there is a problem with the burner, perhaps it's out of order. Any chance you can put it in another computer a do a burn to rule out the burner as the issue?
eddiesudz Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 My thoughts exactly..... I've emailed tech support at Pioneer. The vendor is not offering any help so I'm hoping that Pioneer will be the saving grace. I've NEVER run into burning issues like this over the years..... I will keep you posted on the progress and I thank all of you for your efforts in quest to burn a simple disk. Sounds more as there is a problem with the burner, perhaps it's out of order. eddiesudz Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Waiving the white flag.... it's going back! Any suggestions on what drive I should replace it with? Hoping to get one that does BD-DL but first and foremost I'd like one that just works! Thanks! My thoughts exactly..... I've emailed tech support at Pioneer.
