Cynthia
Most common reason is that the burner doesn't like the media. A log could tell us more. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=14632

Cynthia
Might be worth a try with 2.4x as write speed. Latest firmware is installed + nice discs, so if it fails again, perhaps a cleaning disc could help.

Latest firmware is installed + nice discs, so if it fails again, perhaps a cleaning disc could help. Failed again. This time on Verify cycle. Used 2.4x, Verbativ 2.4x DVD+R DL discs, don't have a "cleaning disc" and not sure what "firmware" you referred to could be updated. Log attached. Thx. Cynthia
What is firmware: http://club.myce.com/f61/f-q-pc-dvd-writers-revised-22-april-2006-a-118794/#fw-what A cleaning disc is a disc that cleans the lens. If that also fails, get a new burner.

If that also fails, get a new burner. Thanks for all your help. I knew what firmware was. My drive already had the latest version. I'll try the cleaner. It burns single-sided just fine. This was a dual-layer, large file attempt.
Cynthia
The first signs of a "dying" burner happens often when you get wring/reading errors on DL media. Burners today are pretty cheap these days.
