LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Same with 8x speed? Are they real/branded Taiyo Yuden discs or cheap/fake other ones using the TY dye? Perhaps get another spindle of them to rule out a bad spindle. You could also try cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc.
Richdom Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Didn't try 8x. I've always burned at 4x or less. Just thought that slower would be more dependable and speed was never really a concern for me. Didn't realize that faster could solve problems. They're real TY. Been using them for about 3 years. Same kind. I get them from shop4tech.com Don't have a cleaning disc but I blew some compressed air in there. This drive was just purchased from newegg in February.
Richdom Posted July 1, 2010 Author Posted July 1, 2010 Same error at 8x. This time I went back to an ISO for which I already made a good copy of. LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Well, obviously you're using different discs in the one that worked. TYG03 Vs TYG02. So maybe it's the spindle of discs that's the problem (as mentioned earlier). Get some more TYG03 - but you still shouldn't burn at 4x, it's a waste of time. 8x is perfect.
Richdom Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 Well, that sucks. Can't exactly get a refund on these and can't stipulate that I only want TYG03 from that vendor. Gah. Well, thanks for the help. I will get new media and check back.

ianymaty Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I'm just curious. Why aren't you use Video_TS folder instead of ISO when copy and let ImgBurn to Build the final disc from Video_TS folder? That way you rule out the bad ISO creation. Or maybe you wanna to try mount the ISO and Build the new disc rather than burn the ISO. Would you wanna try?

When I try to do that I get the message that the file is too big for the disk. That's why I run it through DVD Shrink first. If there is another way, I'd certainly love to hear it! Thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Try all the other supported speeds. If none of them work then you'd do just as well to get another drive and see if it has the same problem.
ianymaty Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 It's obvious that you use DVDShrink to make it to fit on a DVD5 but it's not obvious to me why to save to ISO an not Video_TS folder. You have to change that, in DVDShrink Settings > Backup > Target Device set it to Hard Disk Folder.

You have to change that, in DVDShrink Settings > Backup > Target Device set it to Hard Disk Folder. Hey! That worked. I've been doing it the ISO way for so long I can't remember why. I used DVDshrink to create the Video_TS folder and the Audio_TS folder. In IMGburn, I chose build and selected both folders individually. I 09:23:44 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Burning an ISO or folder makes no difference, it all goes through the same 'burning' code in exactly the same way... so that wasn't why it worked. You burnt at 16x that time but I get the feeling it's just all a bit hit and miss on your system at the moment.
ianymaty Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Glad to hear that worked. Tip: You only need Video_TS folder, Audio_TS is empty and useless but ImgBurn will create it automaticaly however to comply with standard.
Richdom Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 You burnt at 16x that time but I get the feeling it's just all a bit hit and miss on your system at the moment. Well, you may have been right. It's worked twice but also made 8 coasters. I can't pinpoint what may be causing this. I hate to buy a new burner since I really just got this one a few months ago.
Richdom Posted August 28, 2010 Author Posted August 28, 2010 I just bought two Optiarc AD-7260S and updated the firmware to 1.1. This problem is gone. It was the drive. Damn you Lite-on! Thanks for the support!
