PassedPawn Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 I have used ImgBurn to burn disc images of DL DVDs. Images are usually created with DVD Decrypter or PcgEdit. I use Pioneer 110 and Verbatim +R DL discs. I never had any problems. All burned discs played flawlessly on my standalone player. I have verify option on and all burned discs verified without problem. I usually don't pay attention to the log window if the burn and verify complete successfully. However, in the last couple of burns I happened to notice some lines in the log which looked like warnings; they had yellow exclam icons. Sorry, I didn't write down the exact words, but their gist were like this: Optimal Data Zone Capacity: Copied from original disc... Setting L0 Data Zone Capacity... Data Zone Capacity Miscompare...wanted X got Y... Y was about 12 sectors larger than X. I take it that X was the layer break read from the MDS file. Despite these warnings the burns completed and verified successfully, and the burned discs play fine in my player, even the layer break transitions. So, my question is what do these warnings mean? What happened to the layer break? It seems that the layer break in the burned disc is at a different point from the original disc. I thought layer break could only be at a cell boundry, and there is no other cell in IFO which is about 12 sectors from the original layer break cell. Even though as I mentioned the discs play seemingly fine, I wonder if there are some subtle anomalies in their structure. Do I need to redo the burns?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 If the MDS supplies the layerbreak position, the IFO files are not examined. Therefore, whatever builds the ISO/MDS must do it correctly in the first place. It's hard to help at the moment because you don't have a real log.... so basically, for now, stick the topic 'on hold' and then reply back when you have a log to show us. Without the real numbers, it's hard to know where the problem lies exactly.

Disk was backed up with AnyDVD and I used vobblanker to remove one item I didn't need. Hardware is Athlon 64 3800 dual core on MSI K8N Diamond motherboard. 1 Gb RAM. LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I think you've hit the glitch in v2 with 32k ifo/bup padding. This has been fixed and will be available when I finish v2.1
