Do i need to verify xbox 360 games?

I can successfully burn games with my internal slimline laptop drive but it takes a long time to verify them (almost equal time as to burn). I once tried skipping the verification and the game worked fine. Can i skip "verify" everytime? Does the verify only show errors or does it also fix them? Can't i play right away if i burnt successfully?

Verify just looks for / detects errors, it can't do anything about them except bring them to your attention.
