LIGHTNING UK!
Take a look on the packaging and see where those discs were made. No decent drive should fail to burn Verbatim DVD+R DL discs so either the spindle (of discs) has an issue or your drive does. So try a different spindle of discs and look at cleaning your drive with a cleaning disc.

Could i have a bad batch or is there something wrong with my burner? I'll have a go at cleaning the drive later today and see what happens. Thanks. LIGHTNING UK!
It's impossible to say what's at fault without first trying a new spindle of discs or a new drive. You need to change one of them so you can narrow the problem down.
